FAQ

These are all actual questions people have asked.

Background Questions:

How long have you been doing websites?

I’m 47, and I started at 22, so let me do the math… 25 years. Grew up in Schuylkill County, spent 23 years building tech companies in California (LA and San Diego), sold them, and moved back to Berks County.

Why the hell did you leave San Diego to move to Berks County??!!!

San Diego was great – I still visit often. But 25 years away from family is 25 years of missed birthdays, holidays, and random Tuesday afternoon visits. Can’t get that time back, but I can be here now.

Berks County felt like home because it always was. Grew up coming here for movies, shopping at the malls (boy has that changed!), doctor visits, etc. Found a perfect place outside Wyomissing and haven’t looked back.

Funny thing – at 23, I couldn’t leave Pennsylvania fast enough. Now? My wife and I hit the farmers market every week, love the local restaurants, and know our neighbors. Family is 20 minutes away instead of 3,000 miles, a 6-hour flight, and a 1-hour drive.

Turns out what I was chasing in California was already here. Just took me 25 years to figure it out.

What makes you qualified to build websites?

25 years building everything from simple websites to complex enterprise software. I’ve owned a software development company, a SaaS company, a kids’ educational app company, and a marketing company. The websites I build now are simple compared to the sophisticated applications I’ve built. I handle software, design, copywriting, marketing – learned it all running my own businesses.

Do you have a team or is it just you?

Right now it’s mostly me since I just started. But I have trusted former partners and colleagues ready to help when needed. As we grow, I’ll hire locally – keep the talent and money right here in Berks County.

Where did you learn web design?

Self-taught and proud of it. Started at Penn State (bounced between Berks, Schuylkill, and Harrisburg campuses), then left to join California startups. Best education? Learning from brilliant people while building real businesses.

Why should I trust you over a bigger company?

Because if I don’t deliver, I’m out of business. Simple as that. No corporate shields, no phone trees – just me, living here, accountable to my neighbors.

Are you a real business or just a side hustle?

Both, honestly. I have other businesses but plenty of time and resources to grow this. Goal is to strengthen our local economy and eventually provide good jobs here in Berks County.

Have you won any awards or certifications?

I scored 1000+ points in high-school basketball back in the day! Lol. And I once got a certificate at a marketing seminar… does that count?

What happens if you get sick or go on vacation?

I work from anywhere with internet. Check email way too often (ask my wife), and you can always call. Your website won’t suffer because I’m at the beach.

What else are you into? / Tell me about yourself outside of work

My wife and I have a mini goldendoodle and 19 chickens plus one rooster who thinks he owns the place. Funny story – we actually shipped 12 chickens from San Diego through USPS when we moved. My wife thought I was crazy, but hey, you wouldn’t leave your dog behind, right? My stepson was thrilled – more chickens meant more eggs to collect. Now we are giving them away to family and friends, the perfect gift!

Went from less than half an acre in San Diego with no grass to 14 acres here. Never thought I’d say this, but riding the mower is like therapy. I get it now. Put on some music, cut grass for hours – it’s weirdly peaceful. My wife thinks I’m nuts spending whole afternoons on the mower, but my stepson gets it. Usually listening to live Phish shows (yeah, I’m one of those guys, minus the tie-dye).

We’ve been here about a year now, still discovering new places. San Diego cheesesteaks and pizza were… let’s just say being back means we get the real thing again. Sure, we miss some of the Asian and Mediterranean spots, but we’re finding great local places here too.

With all this land, we got my stepson a mini dirt bike. He likes it, but honestly I think I ride it more than he does. Our property is loaded with deer, so I’m getting my hunting license – my nephew and cousins are going to teach me. Pretty excited about that. Never could’ve done that in California. Good to be back where common sense still matters.

The chickens give us fresh eggs, the dog keeps everyone entertained, and the mower keeps me sane. We hit the farmers market most weekends, and honestly just love having family drop by whenever they want. Still getting acclimated, but it already feels like home.

Om, lets get back to the website stuff…

Money/Value Questions:

How much will this website really cost me long-term?

What you see is what you pay – setup fee plus monthly hosting. No surprises, no hidden charges. Cancel anytime with 30 days notice.

What if I can’t afford to continue after a few months?

Life happens. Give us 30 days notice and we’ll help you transition. You keep your website – it’s yours.

Why is web design so expensive?

Good web design is expensive because it’s hard to do right. Sure, throwing up a website is easier now, but that’s like saying anyone with a hammer can build a house.

There’s getting found on Google, technical details that matter, writing copy that converts, and really understanding your business – all takes time and expertise. I spent 25 years learning this stuff.

Think about it – Yellow Pages is dead. Where do people look for businesses now? Online. Being invisible online is like not existing. The right website brings leads 24/7, way beyond what word-of-mouth alone can do.

Here’s the math: If you charge $500 per job and the website brings you 2 new customers a month, that’s $12,000 a year. Even our Growth plan pays for itself in the first month or two. After that? Pure profit.

I’m not the cheapest – good work costs money. But compared to what a working website brings your business? It’s the best investment you’ll make this year.

Do I have to pay everything upfront?

We typically take 50% to start and 50% at launch. Need a payment plan? Let’s talk – we’re neighbors, we’ll work it out.

Trust/Risk Questions:

What if I don’t like the design?

We show you the design before we build. Don’t love it? We’ll revise until you do. That’s why we start with a conversation about your goals.

What happens if you go out of business?

You own your website and domain name. We’ll provide all files and passwords. But we’ve been here 15+ years and aren’t going anywhere.

Who actually owns my website?

You do, 100%. Your domain, your content, your website. We just help you build and maintain it.

Can I take my website somewhere else later?

Absolutely. No contracts, no hostage situations. We keep clients because we deliver results, not because they’re stuck.

How do I know this will actually bring customers?

A website alone doesn’t guarantee customers – it’s a tool. Combined with good service and basic marketing, it helps people find and choose you. We’ll show you what’s working with monthly reports.

Practical/Process Questions:

What if I need changes after launch?

Quick Start/Essential: Email us, we’ll handle it fast.
Growth/Premium: Make changes yourself or ask us. Either way, you’re covered.

How fast can you make updates when I need them?

Simple updates within 1-2 business days. Urgent changes (like holiday hours)? Call us and we’ll handle it same day.

Do you write all the content or do I?

We write everything based on what you tell us about your business. You review and approve. Need changes? Just say so.

What about my existing Google reviews/presence?

We’ll connect your new site to your existing Google Business Profile. Your reviews stay, your presence gets stronger.

Will my email still work?

Yes, we ensure zero email disruption. If you need new email addresses, we’ll set those up too.

Local/Specific Concerns:

Do you understand my industry?

We’ve built sites for contractors, restaurants, retailers, and more. First step is learning your specific business.

Can customers pay/book/order directly on the site?

Yes, if that’s what you need. We’ll discuss the best options for your business and budget during our planning call.

What about my Facebook page – do I still need it?

Keep it – Facebook and your website work together. Your website is home base, Facebook helps spread the word.

My nephew/friend says they can do it cheaper…

They probably can. We deliver professional results with ongoing support. Your choice depends on what your business needs.

I had a bad experience with my last web person…

We hear this a lot. That’s why we’re transparent about everything – pricing, timeline, who owns what. Check our reviews from other Berks County businesses.
